'The forest tour was launched in 2001 with Jools Holland and the Levellers performing at 4 Forestry Commission sites. The tour now has 7 forest sites in Suffolk, Kent, Glos, Notts, Staffs, Cheshire and N Yorks with a sales capacity of 120,000 over 23 shows x 9 weekends in June / July. The forest tour is self-sustaining, paying for itself, and providing valuable revenue to plough back into woodlands in a variety of environmental and social projects. The Forestry Commission is committed to taking woodlands to new audiences, and making them relevant to people in new ways. The tour has no on site branding, sponsors, VIP or media partners. Serious Stages have been providing stages since the tours conception, the tour runs two sites back to back and in the early days it was a 12m orbit then a 15m and for 2009 the new 16m Supernova. The production requires exactly the same set up at each site so touring bands get the same stage spec at each site. I have worked with Serious for many years and we have had a great service from the office and site teams. I am very proud of the success of these unique shows and I am very grateful we have such strong technical contractors and I look forward to several more years with the Serious and the superb Supernova.
