October/November '09

October has seen us enter into a different phase of our year with the focus changing towards overseas work.  This occupies a large part of the winter months, along with sales, planning, stock checks and maintenance, all of which is required to execute our summer season effectively and efficiently. The end of September saw us send over crew to work with our partners in Australia andthe Middle East on the F1 Rocks event in Singapore.  For the past few years we have worked with Butlers Hire based in Australia on projects such as the Elton John Tour and The Big Day Out.

We have now loaded and dispatched 5 x containers heading for Sydney.  This is part of our joint venture with Butler’s Hire, a Sydney based tent and staging company and one of our global partners in the outdoor events industry.  The equipment as well as crew has been transported to Australia for the Pearl Jam Tour which takes in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.  The show will see the Butlers 22m Solar roof and the Serious 22m Supernova, leap frogging to do 2 shows each over a 10 day period.

Along with our partners Atlantic Enterprises based in London, we have worked extensively in the UK and the Middle East on larger scale building projects.

While the gears are set into motion on work abroad, jobs are still happening in the UK, with Serious heading back to Battersea Power Station to build the snowboard ramp for Freesports on 4 – Freeze the event that showcases the worlds premier snowboard talent on a 30m high structure built using our ever versatile SPACE truss as well as our quickform scaffold decking.  Taking 5 days to build the ramp, this follows hot on the heels of the other exciting projects that we have been involved with this year.
